Are you trying to find a job using a German job platform in the internet? Are you tired of looking up and down on StepStone and Monster and only always finding the same positions? Do you have a feeling that none of the job offers really suit your skills and that there is no position for you?
Maybe you haven’t been looking in the right job platforms. There are around 2400 German job platforms in the internet, some of them very specialized for certain professional sectors. The job market is vary varied and the unemployment rate very low currently.
What sort of job are you looking for?
One of the problems that I often see when people are searching for job offers is that applicants themselves have not really decided what they are looking for. And not knowing what you are exactly looking for almost always ends in endless and frustrating search or unsuccessful application writing. Many people are not aware of their own strengths, weaknesses and wishes when it comes to a new job. Sometimes it is because people assume they can’t really chose the job or because they just don’t have a structure and plan when they go job hunting. Unfortunately that leads mostly to a lot fruitless effort and leaves applicants exhausted and demotivated.
But in fact, you do have a choice when you are applying for jobs no matter at which level of the job market. So what are your choices? What is it you can decide with regards to your job? Options are: industry, company size, company culture and values, as well as location. Maybe you won’t find the job that fulfills your expectations at all levels, but you will be able to make better choices. For instance: is the location or are the values more important to you? The more focused you are on these parameters the better you will be able to find a German job platform that suits your needs.
Once you know the answers to these questions you can search very specifically on German job platforms and even on pages that aren’t platforms but still publish some vacancies. These pages can for instance be: incubators and co-working spaces in the startup scene; the industry of chamber and commerce (IHK) or of handicraft (hwk); industry associations and networks. Since there are too many German job platforms to name them all, we put a selection of some of them into the worksheet. Be sure to download it.
